These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Zephyr Translate, a Windows desktop application for AI-powered long-document translation, operated by zephyrdn.com ("we", "us", or "our").

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Zephyr Translate, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, please do not use the software.

2. Software License

Zephyr Translate is licensed to you for personal or commercial use, based on the plan you purchased (Free, Pro subscription, or Lifetime license). We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the software in accordance with your plan.

• Free plan: A limited feature set, available at no cost and without registration.
• Pro subscription (monthly or yearly): Full feature set while your subscription is active. License keys activate offline and do not require connectivity checks.
• Lifetime license: Full feature set of the Zephyr Translate 1.x Pro edition, paid once. Your license key activates offline and never expires.

You may not reverse engineer, decompile, copy, sell, or redistribute the software, except as expressly permitted by applicable law.

3. BYOK — Bring Your Own Key

Zephyr Translate supports "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK): you may connect your own API key from OpenAI, DeepSeek, Qwen, or a custom provider to power the translation features.

• Your API key is stored only on your device and is used to call your chosen AI provider directly from the app.
• We do not see, store, or relay your API key through any intermediary server.
• You are solely responsible for safeguarding your API key. Keep it confidential and do not share it. Any usage, cost, or abuse incurred from your API key is your responsibility, including charges billed by your AI provider.
• If you believe your API key has been compromised, revoke or rotate it through your provider's dashboard immediately.

We are not responsible for any charges, errors, or interruptions caused by third-party AI providers you connect via BYOK. Translation quality and availability depend on the provider you choose.

4. Privacy

Your documents, translations, terminology glossaries, and API keys are processed and stored entirely on your local machine. Translation runs locally with AI models you connect. We do not collect your documents or translation content.

The only data we may collect is the email address you voluntarily provide when activating a free or paid license, used solely to deliver and support your license. See our Privacy Policy for details.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Zephyr Translate to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation;
• Translate or distribute content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes third-party rights;
• Attempt to bypass, disable, or circumvent license enforcement;
• Resell or sublicense the software or license keys.

6. Payments and Refunds

Paid plans are processed through Paddle, our payment provider. All purchases are subject to Paddle's payment terms. Unless otherwise required by law, all purchases are final, except as described in our Refund Policy.

7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TRANSLATION OUTPUT IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES AND MAY CONTAIN ERRORS OR INACCURACIES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE OR TRANSLATION OUTPUT.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Your continued use of the software after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
